Hastings Borough Council business incentive scheme

The aim of the project

The Business Incentive Scheme is one of the many initiatives the Borough has developed to help the economy of Hastings. The scheme demonstrates the Council's commitment to offer real assistance to businesses moving into the town.

Grant criteria and how they are paid

The grant is available to businesses, currently located outside the Borough, who wish to move into Hastings to establish their operation. The grant will be £1,000 per full time equivalent job created in the first six months of operation and occupied by somebody already resident in the Hastings Travel to Work Area. A list of employee's names and addresses will be required to support the final claim. The level of grant will be subject to a maximum limit of £15,000 per company/business.

The six-month period will commence on the occupation of the business premises in Hastings. The grant will not be made until the end of the six-month period. However, an interim payment may be applied for upon the occupation of the business premises in Hastings.

Recipients of interim payments will be expected to give an undertaking that should the interim payment exceed the final grant entitlement (e.g. because employee numbers are less than estimated), the excess will be repaid to the Council.
