Starting Up In Business Workshops

Our start up workshops are the ideal starting point for you to find out how to set up a business. These workshops are sponsored by Barclays Bank in conjunction with the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) in partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants; so you can be sure you will receive the expert advice you need.

Our main programme of workshops are delivered in Hastings for the Hastings & Rother areas (but anyone can attend wherever they live); however we are now expanding into other areas throughout Sussex & Kent so look out for dates in your local area.

Please see below for a summary of the workshops and what you will discover!

Let's Talk Business Ideas

Float your business ideas by us….

This seminar is all about ideas. Your ideas. We’ll help you work through them, sorting the good ones from the non-starters and identifying those that have the potential to launch a business. And if you know that you want to be your own boss, but inspiration hasn’t struck yet, don’t worry. We’ll be exploring how your talents and experience can create opportunities that you might not even have considered.

During the workshop topics covered will include:

Me, myself and I - your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes.
Get yourself a vision - where are you now? where do you want to be? how do you get there?
How to fail in business (and how not to) - common mistakes, how to avoid them and who to speak to.
Is my business idea up to it? - understand your customers and getting to grips with the competition.

Let's Talk Starting in Business

Let your new business take flight…

The purpose of this session is to understand whether you’re in a fit state to take the plunge. Starting your own business is hard work and not without risks, so a really honest assessment of whether you’re prepared will give you the best chance of success.

During the workshop topics covered include:

Must know facts - practical advice to get your business off the ground.
Thinking marketing – how to win new customers and keep them happy.
Figuring out financials - proper planning will make sure your business is not only profitable but also has the cash it needs day to day.
Finding the right banking solutions – making sure you get the right products and services you need to get started.
Where to get more help - useful contacts and organisations.
Bringing it all together - how to put together a business plan

And of course you’ll have the chance to:

  • Ask any questions that you haven’t been able to find the answers to.
  • Talk to other people who are thinking about starting their own business.
